The Thermo Scientific Pharma KingFisher Apex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor is intended for pharmaceutical analytics applications and is an excellent option for facilities that wish to automate their PrepSEQ Residual DNA or PrepSEQ 1-2-3 nucleic acid extraction kit protocols. The KingFisher Apex platform is a premier automated platform designed to meet your high-throughput needs. It seamlessly incorporates the rapid, reliable, and cost-effective magnetic bead-based extraction of nucleic acids that you expect from PrepSEQ technology with a 96-well automation system. Using magnetic particle separation technology, this system provides excellent reproducibility and quality.

Features of the Pharma KingFisher Apex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor include:
• Reliable recovery—quantitative and consistent nucleic acid recovery and cross-contamination control
• Efficient isolation—high-quality and high-throughput isolation of nucleic acids from Mycoplasma, Vesivirus, MMV, and residual DNA
• Streamlined design—superior performance and cost effectiveness per reaction
• Modular & versatile application—fully compatible with the PrepSEQ nucleic acid extraction kits

Quantitative & consistent recovery
Quantitative and consistent recovery of DNA from challenging matrices—including samples that have high protein concentration, low pH, or high salt—often presents a technical challenge. The PrepSEQ nucleic acid extraction kits are now adapted for higher-throughput workflows (up to 96 extractions, or 24 samples in triplicate) when used in combination with the KingFisher Flex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor. The special formulation of magnetic particles provided in the PrepSEQ kits help ensure efficient and specific recovery of DNA from challenging samples.

High quality & throughput isolation
Most automated liquid handling systems move reagents into and out of a single well to perform the different steps of nucleic acid isolation. In contrast, the KingFisher Apex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor utilizes permanent rods to collect the magnetic beads from solution and releases the beads into a well containing reagents for the next step of isolation. The effectiveness of bead collection and transfer leads to superior washing, elution efficiency, and processing. The KingFisher Apex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor can process up to 24 samples in triplicate, compared to 3 samples in triplicate using the manual method.

Compatible with PrepSEQ sample preparation kits
The KingFisher Apex 96 Deep-well Head Magnetic Particle Processor has been optimized to work with both the PrepSEQ Residual DNA Sample Preparation Kit and the PrepSEQ 1-2-3 Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit assays. The instrument comes pre-installed with PrepSEQ optimized protocols and does not require any further optimization after installation and validation.
